Qualifications Desired in Participants
Youngs from 42 member cities of the B40 Balkan Cities Network will attend the B40 Young City Representatives Summit.
Young City Representatives who will attend the B40 Young City Representatives Summit must be;
- Between the ages of 18-25
- A university student
- Fluent in English enough to converse
Very strict security measures have been taken on the campus and in all activity areas where the B40 Young City Representatives Summit will be held. No one other than the registered participants will be admitted to the B40 Young City Representatives Summit.
Young City Representatives attending the B40 Summit must comply with the entire B40 Summit program. They will not be allowed to leave the program and travel in Istanbul alone or in groups.
Bosphorus Tour by Boat and City Tour on Historical Peninsula activities will be held as the whole group; Young City Representatives will not be able to travel alone by leaving the group.
Language and Accessibility
The working language of the B40 Young City Representatives Summit is English. Opening and closing sessions, special sessions, workshops, dialogues and social activities will be in English. There will be no interpretation services into Balkan languages or Turkish.
Registration is required to attend the B40 Young City Representatives Summit. Only registered youngs will be able to enter the B40 Young City Representatives Summit area.
Young City Representatives are required to wear the name badge given to them throughout the event.
Participation and Registration
Young City Representatives who will attend the B40 Young City Representatives Summit will be selected by the B40 Network member cities. B40 Network cities will elect their Young City Representatives and notify the B40 Network Permanent Secretariat. Only Young City Representatives notified by B40 Network cities will be enrolled in the program.
“Young City Representative” is an adjective used to describe the youngs who will participate in the B40 Young City Representatives Summit. It does not represent any authority and responsibility within the B40 Balkan Cities Network. Therefore, the youngs who participate in the B40 Young City Representatives Summit are only participants of an event organized by the B40 Balkan Cities Network; they have no official or institutional affiliation with their municipalities and B40 Balkan Cities Network.
Young City Representatives to attend the B40 Summit do not need to have academic or professional expertise.

B40 Young City Representatives Summit include 4 special sections:

Workshops on 7 main themes will be held at the B40 Young City Representatives Summit:
- Environment and Climate
- Culture and Art
- Science, Technology and Inovation
- Human Rights and Local Equality
- City and Sport
- City and Architecture
- Self-Improvement and Career Planning
Many entertainment events will be held at the B40 Young City Representatives Summit:
- Welcome Party (DJ Set) and Concert
- Youth City Representatives Talent Show and Kareoke Night
- Balkan Folk Dance Show, Anatolian Folk Dance Show and Folk Songs Night
- Bosphorus Tour by Boat
- City Tour on Historical Peninsula
- Farewell Event and Concert
It is important that Young City Representatives take the floor and actively participate in special sections and workshops; but taking the floor and speaking is not obligatory. Those who want to take the floor from the Young City Representatives will speak.
Young City Representatives who have registered for the B40 Young City Representatives Summit do not need to register separately to attend the special sections, workshops and entertainment events in the B40 Summit program. No fee is required to participate in these.
Accommodation and Meals
Young City Representatives attending the B40 Summit will be accommodated in the student dormitories of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Dormitory rooms are for 3 and 4 people; each room has a toilet and a bathroom. There are uninterrupted internet, computer and TV room, library, gym, 24-hour hot water, 24-hour security camera system and security service, fire escape ladder, cafeteria in the dormitories to be accommodated. Girls and boys will stay in 2 separate dormitories.
Entrance to the dormitories will be made on Tuesday, August 23, 2022; the departure will be on Sunday, August 28, 2022.
Only Young City Representatives who have registered for the B40 Summit will be able to stay in the dormitories. Guests who do not register will not be able to stay.
Meals of Young City Representatives will be provided by the B40 Young City Representatives Summit organization. Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinner. In addition during the B40 Young City Representatives Summit, water, tea, coffee and snacks will be served.
Local Transportation
Local transportation of Young City Representatives in Istanbul will be provided by the B40 Young City Representatives Summit organization. Local transportation includes meeting the Young City Representatives from the airport when they arrive in Istanbul and taking them to the airport when they leave Istanbul.
Key Dates and Deadlines
Registration deadline for B40 Young City Representatives is 17th August 2022.
The names of Young City Representatives attending the B40 Summit must be notified to the B40 Network Permanent Secretariat by B40 Network member cities by 17th August 2022 at the latest.
Considerations
It is obligatory for Young City Representatives who will attend the B40 Summit;
- To have travel insurance when buying plane tickets.
- To fill in the information form requested from them completely (in excel format)
- They do not have to pay a fee to attend the B40 Summit.
